Moving over my suggestions from XF.com to here where hopefully we can keep track.
Specifically for MITM (for XF2):
1. Full width 'Winners' widget. This would show a scrollable full width widget with all previous winning media.
2. Current MITM contest widget (full width and sidebar), show ALL currently submitted media (for Mode 1) and/or ALL voted for media (for Mode 2). You mentioned you don't think it's possible to allow direct click to vote via widget but I'll put that in as another suggestion anyway to make voting a whole lot easier.
3. One button submission workflow (again via same or new widget with a button) which would trigger the upload to appropriate MOTM album to make submissions easier and quicker.
4. Dedicated MITM page - show all of the above on a dedicated MITM page inc. previous winners, current votes etc.
5. Submit to Mode 1 contest from existing XFMG media. Basically rather than asking users to reupload media they may already have in their personal or global XFMG album, give them a button to submit to current contest direct from XFMG existing gallery.
That's all for now. I think 1-3 would make this a very slick addon or in fact anything to bring attention to the contest and/or allow for easier submissions and voting.
